Neighbors Allied for the Best Riverfront (NABR) is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation that supports community-based planning and sensible, sustainable development accomplished in ways that are inclusive of public involvement. Our mission is to support Philadelphia's communities and unite with them to envision and plan the development of the riverfront and surrounding areas.
Who We Are
- We are neighbors, coming together as an all-volunteer organization to shape our neighborhoods and give voice to residents who feel they don’t have a voice.
- We came together in late March of 2006, after we had our first opportunity to view the Philadelphia casino proposals and realized we needed to work together to protect our riverfront.
What We Believe
- There is a better future for our riverfront. We want to work with our communities and others to share and develop ideas for a different, better future for our waterfront, and then work to make the community vision of a better riverfront a reality.
- Residents should have a meaningful say in what happens in our neighborhoods. Planning and development should not be imposed upon us. NABR gives residents a vehicle to voice their concerns and build effective power.
What We Do
- Organize and reach out to neighbors and potential allies across the city and state.
- Develop neighborhood planning initiatives to effectively engage residents in envisioning, planning and developing our riverfront and surrounding areas.
- Share what we are doing with the media so that people around the state and country know what is at stake for the citizens of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.
